11 Pilgrims Killed in Road Accident in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Shahjahanpur : 11 pilgrims were killed and 10 others were seriously injured in a road accident on Saturday night on the Khutar-Gola road in the Khutar police station area of Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The police have admitted the injured to the Government Medical College. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the deceased and directed the officials to provide all possible help.

Accident Details:

According to the police, a group of villagers from Sindholi police station area of Sitapur district was going to Purnagir by bus for darshan. At night, the driver stopped the bus near a dhaba near the town on the Khutar-Gola road. Some of the people who got off the bus went to eat, while many others remained inside. Around 10:30 pm, a gravel-laden dumper going from Khutar to Gola suddenly lost control and overturned on the bus parked on the roadside. The gravel laden in the dumper also filled inside the bus.

Rescue Operations and Investigation:

Panic ensued after the accident. The police reached the spot on getting information and started the rescue operation. The dumper was removed with the help of a crane. All the pilgrims were taken out of the bus. 11 people died in the accident, while 10 people were seriously injured. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena and District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh reached the spot on getting information and took stock of the rescue operation.
