Jaipur : There is big news for the youth preparing to become teachers in government schools in Rajasthan. The Education Department has intensified preparations for the conduct of REET (Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test). In the meeting held on Tuesday at the Education Complex in Jaipur, it was discussed to conduct the REET exam in February 2024 and start the application process from December 2023.
Exam will be held on the same day, facilities will be available at nearby centers
Education Department’s Government Secretary Krishna Kunal said that this time the REET exam will be conducted on the same day in the entire state. In the allotment of examination centres, care will be taken that the candidates get centers in their home district or nearby districts only.

The process will be completed in three months
After the conduct of the examination, along with the release of answer key and result, the date of teacher recruitment process will also be announced within three months.
Review of vacant posts continues
The Education Department is currently reviewing the number of vacant posts. After promotion and other processes, it will be decided how many posts will be appointed in teacher recruitment.
There will be 5 options in OMR sheet, negative marking will be implemented.
This time in REET, candidates will get five options instead of four in the OMR sheet. There will be negative marking for not answering any question or choosing a wrong option. If a candidate does not fill the options in more than 10% of the questions, he/she will be disqualified. Putting the photo of the candidate along with his roll number on the OMR sheet is also being considered.
Importance and History of REET
REET (Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test) is the eligibility test required to become a teacher in government schools. This examination is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Ajmer. Successful candidates are given a Teacher Eligibility Certificate valid for three years. Last time REET exam was held in 2022.
15 lakh candidates were waiting
Due to delay in conducting REET exam, more than 15 lakh candidates of the state were waiting for a long time. Now there is enthusiasm among the youth as the preparation for the examination has started. This initiative of the Education Department is expected to speed up the teacher recruitment process in the state.
