Kota : Elections for recognition of trade unions in Kota Railways will be held after 11 years on 4, 5, 6 December. There are 6 unions in the fray in this election. For elections, 27 polling stations have been set up in Kota division and 3 in Workshop. Now four days are left for the elections. 54 thousand employees of Kota, Bhopal and Jabalpur divisions of West Central Railway will cast their votes in the elections. This includes 12,927 voters of Kota Railway Division and 2242 voters of Railway Workshop. Union officials and workers are active in the elections in all three divisions including Kota of West Central Railway. Officials and workers associated with the union are visiting the workplaces of railway employees and doing public relations. Hoardings, banners and posters have been put up in the areas around Kota Railway Station and the Railway Colony. There is enthusiasm among the employees also about the elections being held after a long time.
In the earlier elections, West Central Railway Employees Union and West Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh were recognized. This time, apart from both the unions, four other unions, All India Railway Track Maintainer Union, West Central Railway Employees Council, Swatantra Railway Bahujan Employees Union, West Central Railway Employees Union are also in the fray. Election symbols have been allotted to all of them. The court has provisionally declared AIRTU and Independent Railway Bahujan Employees Union eligible. Voters are also confused due to the presence of 6 unions in the fray for the first time. Many of the unions filing nominations are according to the union cadre. Like the unions of track maintainers and technical employees have also come into the field in different forms.
