While on one hand the youth here are indulging in cyber fraud and are bringing bad name to Alwar and Mewat, on the other hand, the daughters here are bringing about social change by getting involved in education. There was a time when the level of girls’ education here was negligible. Now times are changing. More than eight thousand girls of Mewat are taking school and college education. 18 daughters here are preparing for UPSC. Apart from this, 64 girls are studying in B.Ed, 8 girls in LLB, 10 girls in Nursing and BA and 240 girls in BA-MA. Shabnam, a girl from Mewat, has reached the post of engineer in Electricity Corporation Khairthal. Around Raibka, Mohammad’s granddaughters Nazrana, Fatima and Shahnaz are doing LLB.
hard work for studies
Afsari, Farzana, Sania and Sophia say that all three of us are working hard day and night to prepare for UPSC. There are some girls in our society who do not have money to pay their education fees. In such a situation, these girls are earning their fees by plucking onions, sewing and working as laborers in the fields.
Studying while staying in hostel
Minority Officer Seema Kumari said that about 300 girls from Mewat are studying in the girls hostels run by the Minority Department in Alwar. 138 girls are staying and taking education in the girls hostel run in Suryanagar. Apart from examinations from 9th class to MA level, these girls are doing other courses including UPSC, RPSC, B.Ed. 29 girls from Khairthal Girls Hostel, 50 from Laxmangarh, 45 from Kishangarh and 37 from Tijara from Mewat are taking education.
