Bikaner : 20 thousand MW electricity will be generated from solar energy in Bikaner district. Currently 4504 MW electricity is being generated in Bikaner which is becoming a solar hub. 5190 MW projects are in the pipeline. Apart from this, MoUs of more than 10,000 MW have been signed. The special thing is that most of the companies that have signed MOU are from Bikaner only. The scorching heat and shining sunshine is proving to be a boon in making Bikaner district a solar hub. Bikaner has 325 sunny days out of 365. In view of this, companies generating electricity from solar energy have now turned to Bikaner after Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. Due to the strong sunlight here and land available at cheap rates, big groups like Adani, Ambani, Tata, Mahindra are preparing to set up solar plants.
At present, more than 70 small and big plants have been installed in Bikaner, generating 4504 MW electricity. Solar projects for 5190 MW power are in the pipeline. In the recent summit, MoUs were signed to generate more than 10,000 MW of electricity from solar plants. The special thing is that out of total 27 MOUs, 24 MOUs have been signed by local companies. Seeing the investment of outside companies in making Bikaner a solar hub, now local companies have also entered the field. In the coming time, 20 thousand MW electricity will be generated from solar energy in Bikaner district.
In view of power generation from solar energy, Rajasthan Electricity Transmission Corporation is planning to install new GSS. With this, solar energy can be transmitted in a better way in Bikaner district. Solar plants are being installed rapidly at many places including Pugal, Gajner, Kolayat, Chhattargarh. Due to which the farmers of the area have started getting the price of barren land and along with development, they are also getting employment.
