22300 bags kept for distribution to Chittorgarh girl students turned into junk.

Chittorgarh : A sealed room of Kasturba Residential Girls School located at Chittorgarh subdivision headquarters is filled with 22300 rotten school bags. The fear of insects and poisonous animals in them haunts the 105 girls and staff living here day and night. These bags have the photo of the then CM in 2008. For this reason, the 5 years of the second government that came after that could not be distributed among the schools. Then one after another the same governments remained but the officials could not even dispose of the spoiled bags. The school administration has written letters dozens of times regarding this burden which has become a headache, but this issue of school bags has been kept in abeyance.

In the year 2008, the then government had decided to distribute free bags to the girls of government schools of the state. The Education Department hastily gave a contract to a firm and got bags with CM’s photo prepared. Some were divided into districts and in some the government changed before being divided. The consignment of 22300 bags for Chittor district was emptied in the warden room of Kasturba Girls Residential School, Gangrar. From where it was supposed to reach all the schools in the district, but by then the government had changed.

These bags also got spoiled after about 10 years. It is said that the department has given instructions to the concerned firm of Karauli to take away its goods. The bill for 22300 bags of the district was Rs 12 lakh 26 thousand 277. She could not get the full payment but she is not picking up the goods because firstly she does not want to feel guilty and secondly these bags are no longer usable. Therefore, despite several notices from the department, she did not return. According to the staff, even the lock of the room has not been opened in 16 years. There is a danger of poisonous animals in the bag due to insects and infection.

Will get it investigated and resolved quickly
Chief District Education Officer of Chittorgarh, Pramod Kumar Dashora said that the bags have been kept here for a long time. After getting the investigation done, it will be disposed of quickly as per the rules. Elementary Education DEEO Rajendra Kumar Sharma says that although this matter is very old. In the year 2017, as soon as it came to my notice during the ADPC Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, I had sought guidance from higher officials. On his instructions, the concerned firm was written to pick up the goods and vacate the room.
