Kota : Kota College level ST students are not getting scholarship for the last two years. Students have to make rounds of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department for scholarships. When students go to the department, they are turned away citing lack of budget. Students are getting worried due to this. The students also informed the District Collector recently, but the problem was not resolved. More than 2400 children are waiting for scholarship.
18000 get scholarship
According to departmental sources, a total of 18000 students get scholarship in different categories of scholarship in the district. Out of these, 2400 students in ST category did not get scholarship for two years. The amount of scholarship for students varies according to the course and class.
The state is giving, not the centre.
According to the information, students of SC, ST, EWS, SBC, OBC categories get scholarship. Budget is released to different categories of students by the state and central government. The budget for scholarship for SC and SBC children comes from the state and for ST and OBC students, the budget comes from the central government. Due to lack of budget from the Centre, scholarships are not being provided. The number of children is not known, but scholarship has not been received for the last two years. The department has been informed. Earlier a memorandum was also given to the District Collector. If scholarship is available, students can get some support.
