25 tigers missing from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in one year, government shocked after seeing the report

Sawai Madhopur : It seems as if clouds of crisis are looming in the Ranthambore National Park located in Sawai Madhopur, which has made its special mark on the world stage due to the antics of tigers. Last Saturday, when a villager was killed in a tiger-human conflict in Ulyana village adjacent to Ranthambore, the angry villagers beat the attacking tiger to death. This matter was not yet settled, yet another sad news has come to the fore for wildlife lovers, according to which 25 tigers and tigresses have gone missing from here in the last one year. This has been revealed recently in the departmental monitoring report.

After the disappearance of tigers was revealed, Chief Forest Conservator and Wildlife Warden P.K. A high level investigation committee has been constituted by Upadhyay, which will present its report regarding the tigers missing from Ranthambore in the next two months. The departmental monitoring report has revealed that about 25 tigers and tigresses have gone missing from Ranthambore in the last one year. Are. After this, the Forest Department came into panic and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden Pawan Kumar Upadhyay has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the missing tigers from Ranthambore, which will submit its report in the coming two months. Will present it in the Chief Wildlife Warden’s office. He said that information about missing tigers was coming in the Tiger Monitoring Report for a long time, regarding which several letters were also written to the CCF of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. According to the report of 14 October 2024, no concrete evidence has been received for more than a year regarding the missing 11 tigers of Ranthambore. Also, concrete evidence of the presence of 14 other tigers has not been obtained even in a period of less than a year. In such a situation, an inquiry committee has now been constituted by the Forest Department to investigate the entire matter.

Regarding tigers and tigresses continuously going missing from Ranthambore, wildlife experts believe that the way the number of tigers is increasing in Ranthambore, the tigers are not getting enough space for their territory. Due to this, mutual conflict between tigers is increasing and weaker tigers are moving out of Ranthambore. Many a times, when there is a conflict with a stronger tiger, the weaker tiger also dies. Due to weak monitoring by departmental officers, many times dead tigers are not detected and the department considers them missing. Wildlife experts and wildlife lovers say that the entire focus of the authorities here is on tourism instead of tiger conservation, hence due to lack of proper monitoring and tracking of tigers, tigers are going missing.

The way tigers, tigresses and cubs have gone missing from here in the last few years, it is natural to raise questions on the working style of the departmental officers. In the one year from January 2023 to January 2024, 11 tigers and cubs have died here. In the very first month of the year 2023, 1 tiger, 1 tigress and 1 cub died, in which tigress T-57 died on 10 January, tigress T-114 and her cub died on 31 January. In this way, in the year 2023, 8 tigresses and cubs died in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, after which one tigress and two cubs died in January 2024. After this, now the tiger T-74 teddy bear has also gone missing, its age is about 11 years.

With the continuous disappearance of tigers and tigresses, the Forest Department’s claims of monitoring and tracking tigers seem to be being exposed. Tigress T-13, one cub of Tigress T-79 and two cubs of Tigress T-99 were reported missing. After this, now Tiger T-3 has gone missing from Khandar range also. The forest department is searching for the tiger. Tiger T-3 is an old tiger, whose age is more than 18 years. In such a situation, the chances of getting it now are less. Earlier, two cubs of tigress Noor and tigress T-138 had gone missing. After this, cubs of T-13, T-79 and two cubs of T-99 have gone missing.

Recently, a tiger died on 22 September 2024, after which on last Saturday the villagers beat the tiger T 86 to death.
