Srinagar/Manali, 28 December (IANS). Tourists visiting Manali had to get stuck in the traffic jam for hours when snowfall led to a 6 kilometer long jam on the Manali-Solang Nala Road. Actually, there was heavy snowfall in Manali, Himachal Pradesh on Friday. On one hand, domestic and foreign tourists thoroughly enjoyed the snowfall. On the other hand, due to snowfall, there was a long jam on Manali-Solang Nala Road. Long queues of vehicles were seen on the roads. People shared the video on social media. It was told that more than one thousand vehicles got stuck in the jam on the road. Meanwhile, local police personnel reached the spot and tried to clear the jam.
It is reported that a large number of tourists are heading towards Manali to celebrate the New Year. Manali and Atal Tunnel are experiencing heavy snowfall since Friday evening. Due to which many vehicles got stuck. They have been evacuated from here by police personnel.
Apart from Manali, it rained in many parts of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand also on Friday. Due to which the temperature went down considerably. Due to cold, people were forced to hide in their homes. Due to dense fog, the speed of vehicles on the roads also remained slow. Due to which the problem of traffic jam arose. According to Dehradun Meteorological Department Director Vikram Singh, the mercury may fall further in the coming days. Due to which the cold will increase in the area.
Necessary instructions have also been issued by DM Baramulla regarding snowfall in Srinagar. Tangmarg-Gulmarg road is slippery due to snowfall. There is a ban on heavy vehicles. Light vehicles are allowed. Tourists can travel by car from 8 am to 6 pm. Safety rules have to be followed. Action will be taken against violators.
