6 rain drains will be built in Jodhpur, will provide relief from waterlogging during monsoon.

Jodhpur : Jodhpur Municipal Corporation has started efforts to deal with the problem of waterlogging in the next monsoon. The Corporation has prepared a drainage plan for the drainage of rain water in various areas of the South, in which 6 small rain drains will be built by spending about Rs 1.5 crore. This step of the Corporation South is welcome, but the big question is this. It is believed that even if these small rain drains are built, the solution to the waterlogging situation will be only half, because the two big rain drains of the city will not be able to connect to Jojri till the next monsoon, because of the obstacles in the way of drainage. Still haven’t been able to get away. In such a situation, there will be more chances of rain water filling the city.

According to experts, out of the six small rain drains included in the plan, three small drains will be connected to the Nehru Park rain drain, but the Nehru Park drain has remained incomplete for the last five years. This drain is proposed to be about 7.5 km long, but till now only 4.5 km has been built. It has been built from behind Sardar Club, through inside JNVU campus till ICMR, Urban Haat and from there towards Jhalamand. There are major obstacles in the path of about one km long drain from Jhalamand to Guda Road. If Corporation South shows promptness in removing these obstacles, rain water will be able to flow out of the city by the next monsoon. Mayor South Vanita Seth gave her in-principle consent to this drainage plan to deal with waterlogging in the meeting of technical officers of Corporation South on Monday in the presence of Commissioner Dr. T Shubhamangala.
