Dungarpur : Peaceful voting took place in Chaurasi Assembly by-election on Wednesday. However, this time, just 11 months after the assembly elections, the voting percentage fell in the by-elections. There has been a decrease of 7.42% voting. 74.34 percent votes have fallen in Chaurasi. Whereas in the 2023 assembly elections, a record 81.76 percent voting took place in Chaurasi. Its effect will also be visible on the results.
The final report of voting percentage was released by the Election Department late on Wednesday night. A total of 10 candidates were in the fray in Chaurasi Assembly. For which 2 lakh 55 thousand 375 voters had to vote. 1 lakh 89 thousand 858 votes were cast in voting on Wednesday. Which is 74.34 percent of total voters. While if we look at the 2023 assembly elections, there was a record voting of 81.76 percent, but with Rajkumar Rot becoming MP within 11 months, the voting in the by-elections reduced by 7.42 percent. Its impact on the election results is being assessed.
In the 2023 assembly elections, Rajkumar Rot defeated BJP’s Sushil Katara by a record margin of more than 69 thousand. Due to decrease in voting percentage, there is a possibility of a significant difference in the margin of victory or defeat.
