7 new world-class ‘Best Tourist Villages’ added in China

Beijing, November 15 (IANS). The list of ‘Best Tourist Villages’ for the year 2024 was announced at the 122nd meeting of the United Nations Tourism Organization Executive Committee held in Cartagena, Colombia on Friday, the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism revealed.

These include seven villages, including Azekh village in Yunnan province of China, Kuanyang village in Fujian province, Shipatong village in Hunan province, Thaoping village in Sichuan province, Xiokang village in Anhui province, Xithou village in Guangdong province and Yantunchiao village in Shandong province.

China has become the country with the highest number of selected villages this year. Up to now, the total number of ‘Best Tourist Villages’ in China has reached 15, ranking first in the world. The seven villages selected this time in China are spread across the East, Central and West, and are highly representative in terms of area, culture and development model, which fully reflect the achievements of China’s rural tourism development.
