Nagaur : CBI team reached Merta Road on Monday in connection with the embezzlement of Rs 72 lakh 36 thousand 44 in Merta Road Post Office, Nagaur. In this regard, the Postal Superintendent Nagaur had registered a case against Sub Postmaster Mehruddin in Jodhpur CBI. The CBI team investigated the matter along with questioning the victim account holders. According to the information, Sub Postmaster Mehruddin of 27 account holders in Merta Road Post Office embezzled Rs 62 lakh 22 thousand 44 from 2 August 2022 to 19 April 2024 and temporarily misappropriated Rs 10 lakh 14 thousand.
Case of embezzlement of more than 72 lakhs
A total embezzlement of Rs 72 lakh 36 thousand 44 was revealed. The accused had entered the amount deposited by the account holders in the passbook for the solar withdrawal amount but did not mention the amount in the account holder’s account. The sub-postmaster had embezzled the amount by preparing a fake withdrawal form.
The amount mentioned in the pass book is missing from the account
After the matter came to light in May, the investigation also revealed that when the account holders went to the post office for payment, the suspicious public servant sub-postmaster increased the deposit amount by adding the interest amount. In this way, sub-postmaster Mehruddin kept misusing the government money temporarily. In this regard, a case was registered in Jodhpur CBI by Postal Superintendent Nagaur Ram Avatar Soni.
CBI team collected evidence
CBI has registered a case and handed over the investigation to Inspector Madanlal Beniwal. In the case of scam of lakhs of rupees done by Sub Postmaster in Merta Road Post Office, today CBI team reached Merta Road under the leadership of Jodhpur ACB Branch Inspector Madanlal Beniwal. This CBI team interrogated 26 consumers during these days and collected evidence against accused Sub Postmaster Mehruddin. Nagaur Post Office Superintendent Ram Avatar Soni had registered a case against subordinate employee Merta Road Sub Postmaster Mehruddin in Jodhpur CBI. More than Rs. 70 lakhs was embezzled from the savings accounts of more than 21 account holders in Merta Road Post Office.
