Motihari, 22 November (IANS). Smugglers in Bihar keep inventing some new method every day to smuggle drugs. Meanwhile, police on Friday recovered a large quantity of Nepali ganja from a tanker parked on the side of NH 27 in Mehsi police station area of East Champaran district. Police have also arrested two people in this case. The value of the recovered ganja is said to be Rs 1 crore.
Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat said that the police had received secret information that a large consignment of ganja was coming to Bihar from a tanker from Nepal. On the basis of this information, on Friday, the police found a Nepali tanker parked on the side of NH-27 Muzaffarpur Lane main road located in Chakroja Shamsuddin village of Mehsi police station area. When the police interrogated the tanker driver, he tried to trick the police.
But on suspicion, when the police searched inside the tanker, 834 kg of Nepali ganja was recovered from it. A police officer said that the value of the recovered ganja is estimated to be around Rs 1 crore. He said that two Nepali citizens, tanker driver and sub-driver, have been arrested in this case. The tanker loaded with ganja was going from Nepal to Begusarai. The driver and sub-driver are being interrogated and further action is being taken by establishing forward backward linkage.
The arrested people have been identified as Majeet Tamag, resident of Dhading (Nepal) and Nima Singh, resident of Madhiveshi district of Dhading. Police have also seized the tanker in this case.
