872 Anganwadi centers in Sirohi district, 178 centers are running on rent.

Sirohi : Many Anganwadi centers operating in Sirohi district are struggling for basic facilities. There is lack of electricity in some centres, and problem of drinking water in others. Many centers are still operating in rented buildings. Where there are no toilet facilities. Due to lack of facilities in the centres, the children and the personnel working in the centers are facing a lot of problems. A total of 872 Anganwadi centers are operating in the district. Out of which only 486 centers are operated in departmental buildings. The remaining 178 centers are still running in rented buildings. Since the centers are operated in rented buildings, neither any department nor any other organization can provide facilities to them.

Anganwadi centers have been opened across the district to develop the children physically and mentally. So that the children can be exposed to it from an early age. Children aged between 3 to 6 years are given admission in Anganwadi centres. 26 thousand 866 children aged 3 to 6 years are studying in 872 Anganwadi centers in the district. Whose main objective is to tell children about education, health and cleanliness etc. since childhood. Besides, the aim is to inculcate self-confidence in children through conduct and behaviour, enhance intellectual development including color identification, classification, matching, number knowledge.

No electricity facility in 17 out of 486 centers

Out of 872 Anganwadi centers in the district, only 469 centers have electricity connections. Even today, 17 centers in departmental buildings do not have electricity facilities. Due to lack of electricity connection, children have to face a lot of problems during the summer season. Due to high demand for electricity in 17 centers and being located at remote places in the tribal areas of Pindwara and Abu Road, electricity connections could not be made at these centres.

No drinking water facility in 251 centers

Out of 486 centers operating in departmental buildings in the district, 251 centers do not even have drinking water facilities. In such a situation, the youngsters carry a bottle with them to quench their thirst or some arrangement is being made from nearby houses by the personnel working at the centre.
