Jodhpur : The work of electrification of broad gauge lines is being done rapidly by the Railways for environmentally friendly rail operations across the country. This also includes the ambitious electrification work of the entire North Western Railway Zone by the North-Western Railway Electrical Department. So far, the electrification work of 5248 route kilometer broad gauge lines has been completed on the North Western Railway, which is about 95 percent of the broad gauge network of the North Western Railway. Talking about the month of June, electrification of a total of 155 route kilometer railway line has been completed this year in the zone, including Sarupsar-Anupgarh (51 km) of Bikaner division and Asha Pura Gomat-Jaisalmer (104 km) rail section of Jodhpur division.
Promote environmental protection
Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, Captain Shashi Kiran said that electrification of all railway lines on the entire North Western Railway will increase the speed of trains. This will save travel time. Also, the use of electricity instead of diesel will promote environmental protection.
Operation of 4 trains changed in June
In the month of June, the operation of 4 trains in the entire zone has been changed from diesel traction to electric traction. With electrification in the zone, currently 320 trains are being operated on electric traction (track). In the coming time, after the remaining 5 percent electrification work of the zone is completed, more trains will run on electric tracks.
Allotment of 11 electric locos to Jodhpur
In the month of June itself, with the allocation of 11 new electric locomotives to Bhagat Ki Kothi, Jodhpur shed, a total of 125 3 phase electric locomotives with new technology have been allocated so far. At the same time, electrification work has been completed on more than 1560 km of route out of 1625 route km in Jodhpur division. The remaining work from Thaiyat Hamira to Sanu in the Jaisalmer section of the division and Makrana to Phulera (up and down line) on Degana-Phulera railway section is in progress.
