Jaipur : Questions are being raised again on the process of installing High Security Number Plate (HSRP) in vehicles by the Transport Department in Rajasthan. About 25 days ago, Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Premchand Bairwa had ordered to stop the HSRP process in five days. Not only this, the Deputy Chief Minister had also raised questions on the amount being charged for the number plate on the SIAM portal. It was alleged that more money is being charged from the public. Even 25 days after the order of the Deputy Chief Minister, the High Security Number Plate process has not been stopped. The application process is going on on the SIAM portal. Neither action has been taken by the Transport Department against the company issuing the number plate, nor has the process of creating a portal at the department level for the number plate been started. After the entire incident, the drivers stopped applying for the number plate. No action has been taken by the department in this matter yet.
This order was given by the Deputy Chief Minister
The minister said in the letter that high security number plates are being installed in vehicles through the SIAM portal. Under this process, slots are being booked for several months ahead and a higher amount is being charged. This is causing problems to the common people. The minister had given instructions to start a separate process at the department level.
Refund process has not started yet
The Transport Department had started the process of installing high security number plates in vehicles from December 2023. Applications were made till August 10. About 15 lakh vehicle owners deposited about Rs 50 crore for the number plate. Number plates were installed in about four lakh vehicles. HSRP is to be installed in about 25 lakh vehicles. The Deputy Chief Minister had given instructions to refund the booking money to the vehicle owners after 5 days. But till now the process of refunding the money of the drivers has not started and the application process is also going on.
The department maintained silence
The department took applications for number plates by threatening challans for 8 months but kept quiet after the Deputy Chief Minister raised questions on the process. In such a situation, the drivers are confused. The question is whether HSRP number plates should be installed in vehicles through SIAM portal or not.
CM should intervene
Why the deputy CM’s orders are not being followed, he should tell. He had promised to save the public from extortion, but nothing happened. In such a situation, a question mark has been raised. The Chief Minister should intervene in this matter and provide justice to the public. The 50 crores which are deposited with private firms should be returned. -Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, former Transport Minister If the process of number plate has started, then the department should clarify. There is a confusion among the people that the process is closed. Besides this, if a portal is to be made at the department level, then its process should be started soon.
