Jhunjhunu : Chidiwa (Jhunjhunu). 24-year-old Jawan Satyendra Singh Sankhla, a resident of Dangar village in Jhunjhunu, was martyred in a fire on board Indian Navy warship INS Brahmaputra. The warship caught fire on Sunday during maintenance at the Navy Dockyard in Mumbai. The next day, Navy officials were informed about Satyendra’s disappearance in the accident. Upon this, Navy divers began searching for Jawan Satyendra. After about 60 hours, Satyendra’s body was taken out of the sea at 3 am on Wednesday. Jawan Satyendra will be cremated with military honors on Thursday in his native village Dangar.
Satyendra was recruited in 2018
Jawan Satyendra Singh was recruited as a sailor in the Navy in 2018. The family said that Satyendra Singh had come to the village about three months ago in March due to a death in the family. He was very friendly and cheerful. Satyendra is not married.
Martyr Satyendra Singh’s family lives in a house built on the farm on the Dangar-Gidania border. His parents do farming in the village itself. The jawan’s elder brother Manendra Singh is a teacher in a private school in Jodhpur. He is also preparing for competitive exams.
Villagers will take out a tricolor rally
The mortal remains of Navy Jawan Satyendra Singh will reach his native village Dangar by road at around 9 am on Thursday. A tricolour rally will also be taken out on Thursday in honour of martyr Satyendra Singh. On Wednesday, the work of levelling and cleaning of the land at the martyr’s cremation site was also done in the village under the supervision of BJP District General Secretary Rajesh Dahiya.
Ship tilted after fire
Repair work was being carried out on INS Brahmaputra in Mumbai. Probably due to welding, a huge fire broke out on the ship. After this, the ship tilted to one side. The fire on the ship could be controlled after 16 hours. At the time of the accident, about 300 officers and employees were present on INS Brahmaputra. Only Satyendra Singh Sankhla is reported to have been martyred in the accident.
