Jodhpur : Fire broke out at Mathuradas Mathur Hospital in Jodhpur. A woman admitted in the general ward got burnt due to the fire. The staff brought the fire under control before it could spread. The burnt woman is in ICU. An investigation committee has been formed regarding the accident. Superintendent Dr. Naveen Kishoriya said – The incident happened at 2.30 am on Sunday night. A female patient was admitted in the general ward of the hospital with stomach related problems. The woman was on oxygen support. There was an attendant with the woman, who lit the beedi at night and threw it in the dustbin. After this he slept. He did not know and the dustbin caught fire.
Woman burnt up to 20 percent
The part of the woman’s oxygen mask got burnt in the fire. On information, the nursing staff reached the ward and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. The female patient suffered 20 percent burns. He has been admitted to ICU. Plastic surgeon has also been called.
Committee formed to investigate negligence
Superintendent Dr. Naveen Kishoriya said- An investigation committee has also been formed regarding the accident. Whether nursing staff was present on the spot or not. If negligence comes to light, action will be taken. A police complaint has been lodged against the attendant. If someone smokes in a hospital, he is fined. Now action will be taken against the patient’s attendant.
