Srinagar, November 15 (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surendra Kumar Chaudhary on Friday answered media questions on various issues related to the valley.
Surendra Kumar Chaudhary said, “Nowadays, there has been a new beginning in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the field of sports. A special opportunity has come for the senior players here. The hard work he has done for a long time is now getting more respect for his efforts. In this context, an important step has been taken, and that is the formation of “Master Games Association”, which has recently started in Jammu and Kashmir. The main objective of this initiative is to provide a platform to senior players, so that they can continue their sporting journey and maintain their physical fitness. “This tournament is not just a competition but also an inspiration in a way that encourages the coming generation to join sports.”
He said that among the people who have contributed in starting “Master Games”, the names of Chips Saheb and Neeti Kaur can be specially mentioned. Their support and guidance is extremely important for this event. Such events will not only impact the current players but also the coming generations. It is hoped that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will benefit from this initiative, as it is a great opportunity to spread awareness towards sports and fitness. Through this, efforts are being made to bring those who were out of sports back into the playing field.
He said, “There was a time in Jammu and Kashmir, when people left the game and then their story gradually got lost. Now this situation is changing. Participating in sports and exercising regularly is important not only for physical fitness, but also for mental and social well-being. Nowadays, when people are becoming more conscious about their health and lifestyle, such events inspire not only the senior players but also the younger generation. Sports are very important for building a healthy society, and such events are needed to promote it in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Deputy Chief Minister said that there is a great need to promote sports for the youth in Jammu and Kashmir at this time, especially when it is seen that the problem of drugs and addiction is increasing among the youth here. Youth can be turned in a positive direction through sports. This will not only improve their physical and mental condition, but they can also prove to be helpful in bringing a positive change in the society. Senior players who have earned name in the country and abroad can become role models for the coming generation.
He said, “It is the effort of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Sports Minister Satish Sharma to promote such sports events in the state and provide all possible assistance to the players. This reflects the positive thinking of the government that there should be development in the field of sports and the youth should get a direction. However, the government has a clear stand regarding the matches to be held with Pakistan. Due to the situation that has arisen in Jammu and Kashmir due to terrorism, the Indian team has refused to play in Pakistan. The decision on this issue has been taken by the Central Government and it has been ensured that the security and honor of the country is always the priority.
