New Delhi, November 14 (IANS). Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the Mayor election of Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD). The mayor’s election was held at the Civic Center on Thursday. AAP candidate Mahesh Kumar has registered a spectacular victory. Mahesh Kumar Khigi has been elected the new Mayor of Delhi. Also, AAP candidate Ravindra Bhardwaj has been elected Deputy Mayor.
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Mahesh Kumar on winning the Delhi Mayor election. The former CM of Delhi told Mahesh Kumar to work wholeheartedly for the public and carry forward the good work being done in MCD. Also, Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Ravindra Bhardwaj on being elected as Deputy Mayor. He has asked Bhardwaj to strongly pursue the public interest works being done in the corporation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Shelly Oberoi congratulated Mahesh Kumar and Ravindra Bhardwaj on their victory. Aam Aadmi Party has called it a victory for the people of Delhi.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said in a post on social media platform It is the victory of the people of Delhi and the Constitution of Baba Saheb. Anti-Dalit forces made every effort to disrupt the elections, but the courage of the Constitution and the people prevailed over every conspiracy. Thanks to the Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi got a Dalit Mayor. He said that due to Aam Aadmi Party, I am confident that Arvind Kejriwal’s vision of development will reach new heights under the leadership of Mahesh Kumar.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said in a post on Instagram, “The anti-Dalit BJP conspired and delayed the mayor elections. But once again Baba Saheb’s Constitution has won. Thanks to the Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi got a Dalit mayor. Congratulations to Mahesh Kumar Kheri on becoming mayor. I hope that the politics of Arvind Kejriwal will move forward under your leadership.”
Delhi CM said in another post, “Democracy has won, congratulations to Ravindra Bhardwaj on becoming Deputy Mayor.”
After winning the MCD Mayor election, Mahesh Kumar Khedi said that I wholeheartedly thank former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who appointed a small worker to such a big position. Everyone knows the reason why elections were not being held. This has been the mischief of BJP, due to which elections could not be held. Whatever time we have got in the next five months, we will work for the betterment of Delhi.
He further said that victory is victory, whether it is by three votes or one vote. Aam Aadmi Party is working hard for the next assembly elections. History is witness to the work that the Aam Aadmi Party government has done for Delhi and the people of Delhi. No party has done such work till now. Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, entire Delhi is happy and moving towards development. No one can decide who has done cross voting. The top leadership of the party will work on it.
