New Delhi, December 10 (IANS). Aam Aadmi Party MLA Abdul Rehman has resigned from the primary membership of the party on Tuesday. Seelampur MLA has accused AAP of “ignoring the rights of Muslims”.
In a two-page letter posted on social media platform X, Abdul Rehman has said that he is resigning from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party.
He wrote, “Today I am resigning from the primary membership of Aam Aadmi Party. The party ignored the rights of Muslims by getting entangled in power politics. Arvind Kejriwal always did his politics by running away from public issues. Fight for justice and rights. I will keep fighting.”
Abdul Rehman’s resignation from AAP is being considered a blow to the party. There are a large number of Muslim voters in his constituency Seelampur. In such a situation, the electoral prospects of the party may be affected.
His decision to leave AAP comes about a month and a half after he resigned from the post of minority cell president on October 29. Rehman had then decided to go public about his decision to quit just minutes after AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal inducted veteran Delhi Congress leader Chaudhary Mateen Ahmed’s son Zubair Ahmed and daughter-in-law Shagufta into the party. .
The AAP MLA had said in a post, “I am resigning from the post of President of the Minority Cell of the Aam Aadmi Party. I have taken this decision in view of the growing differences in my views. I hope that the party and my supporters will support me in this decision.” Will understand the steps.”
The current tenure of Delhi Assembly will end on 23 February 2025. In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 seats in the 70-member assembly while BJP won eight seats. Congress could not win even a single seat.
