New Delhi, December 6 (IANS). Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has given his clarification regarding the bundle of notes found under his bench in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament.
He said, “I am quite surprised to hear about it just 5 minutes ago. I had no prior knowledge about it. I entered the House yesterday at 12:57 pm and the House sitting started at 1 pm.”
He said, “I stayed for about 3-4 minutes, then had lunch with Ayodhya Prasad in the canteen from 1 to 1:30 pm. I left at 1:30, so my total time in the house was 3 minutes. Plus, I think I had 30 minutes in the canteen. It is strange that politics is done on such matters.”
He further said, “Of course there should be an investigation on how luggage can be kept anywhere and on any seat. Every seat should be locked, the key of which should be with the concerned MP, otherwise anything can be kept there and allegations can be made. It becomes tragic and serious as well as funny. Everyone should cooperate in getting to the bottom of the matter.”
It is noteworthy that in Rajya Sabha, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi is said to have a wad of notes under his bench. This information has been given by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
He said, “I wish to inform that after the adjournment of the House yesterday, when routine checking was carried out, the security officials recovered a stack of currency notes from seat number 222 (which is currently allotted to Abhishek Manu Singhvi) Did. This matter has been brought to my attention, and I have asked to ensure that the investigation is conducted legally. “Action should be taken as per the rules.”
At the same time, as soon as the Chairman talked about receiving the notes, the opposition parties started creating ruckus. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge also lodged an objection to the Chairman taking the name of Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
