Absconding accused arrested in Kota chain snatching case, sent to jail

Kota : Kota Vigyan Nagar police station of Kota has arrested the accused of breaking the chain from the neck of an elderly woman in broad daylight. The accused Ashish Gupta alias Lalu alias Patasha was absconding after the incident. Was living in Manoharthana of Jhalawar by hiding his identity. 12 cases are registered against the accused in different police stations of the city.

Anantpura police station CI Pushpendra said that the accused had committed the incident of chain snatching on November 4. 75-year-old Ayodhya Devi had gone to the ration shop to buy wheat at 8.45 am. While returning from there, a few steps away from the house, two miscreants riding a bike pushed an elderly man, broke the chain from his neck and ran away. On the complaint, the police registered a case and started searching for the accused. Hundreds of CCTV footages were scanned in Kota and Jhalawar. After footage and technical investigation, the main accused Ashish Gupta was identified. Ashish was arrested secretly from Manohar police station. During interrogation, the accused confessed to being involved in other chain snatching incidents in the city. The accused has been produced in the court and taken on remand.
