Noida, November 13 (IANS). The entire month of November is being celebrated as Traffic Month in Gautam Buddha Nagar. During this time, the general public including schools and colleges is also being made aware about the traffic rules and challan action is also being taken against the drivers who do not follow the traffic rules. In 12 days, the traffic police made more than 1 lakh people aware. Action was taken against more than 82,000 vehicles and challans worth more than Rs 15 crore were issued.
On November 1, Police Commissioner Gautam Budh Nagar Lakshmi Singh inaugurated Traffic Month-2024 by lighting the lamp at the Police Commissioner’s office, Sector-108. After this, 203 awareness programs and workshops were organized in the entire district in various schools and colleges, main intersections, transport unions, making various vehicle drivers aware about the traffic rules.
The traffic police made about 1 lakh 17 thousand 209 people aware. The police team, with the help of various NGOs, gave detailed information about environment and traffic rules to the general public through street plays and administered an oath to follow the traffic rules.
A total of 50 programs were organized in schools and colleges during Traffic Month. 40,348 students and teachers were made aware through various programmes. 153 workshops were organized at various places. About 37,576 people were made aware about traffic rules through workshops.
In the last traffic month November-2023, about 39,285 people were made aware by the traffic police by making short videos on the awareness vehicle. The traffic police organized five health and eye camps in different police station areas for heavy and light vehicle drivers till November 12.
Traffic police installed reflective tape on 2,135 heavy and light vehicles for the safety of drivers in dense fog. About 7,836 persons were given traffic training. During this period, challan action was taken against 82,430 drivers who violated traffic rules.
The traffic police issued challans every day on all expressways by identifying speeding vehicles with the help of speed radar guns. Without helmet-54,210, without seat belt-1,583, three rides-1,242, mobile phone use-504, no parking-7,738, opposite direction-4,920, noise pollution-432, air pollution-2,281, faulty number plate-1,788, red light Violations-2,640, No DL-577, No Entry-1,596, Speed Radar Gun challan-567, other violations-2,352 action taken.
Due to all these actions, a fine of Rs 15 crore 9 lakh 37,000 was imposed and 290 vehicles were seized.
