New Delhi, December 9 (IANS). The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has extended the permission to import petroleum by sea route to Adani Group’s Krishnapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh till March 1, 2026.
The order issued by the Central Government said that keeping in view the need to import petroleum in public interest, the period from August 25, 2024 to March 1, 2026 for Krishnapatnam Port (Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited), located in Andhra Pradesh, Notification for import of petroleum into India by sea route at ports is further extended.
Shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones (APSEZ) saw a rise of more than one percent on Monday after getting approval from the Central Government.
Adani Krishnapatnam Port had launched an advanced cargo handling system in August this year to enhance its existing capacity and productivity.
Adani Group had announced in a statement that the new system will streamline the management of both container and bulk cargo and will revolutionize cargo operations at the port and provide efficiency and reliability.
According to a statement from the company, the new cargo handling system uses advanced technology to boost efficiency and cargo throughput with key features such as automated tracking, real-time data analysis and improved logistics coordination, thereby improving speed, accuracy, safety and Costs are reduced.
Krishnapatnam Port is a major port in India’s maritime trade, handling a significant portion of the country’s cargo traffic. The introduction of this advanced system is a strategic move by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) to maintain its competitive edge.
