Mumbai, November 25 (IANS). Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray called a meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs and other leaders who won the assembly elections here on Monday. Aditya Thackeray was elected the leader of the party legislature party (joint leader of both the houses) in the meeting held at Uddhav Thackeray’s house Matoshree.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant told the media after the meeting, “20 MLAs of Shiv Sena (UBT) have been elected in the Maharashtra Assembly elections and a meeting of these MLAs was held today under the chairmanship of Uddhav Thackeray. Aditya Thackeray was unanimously elected in this.” Has been elected leader of both the Houses, while Bhaskar Jadhav has been elected leader of the party group in the state assembly. Apart from this, Sunil Prabhu has been appointed Chief Whip.
After being elected the leader of the group, Bhaskar Jadhav said in a special conversation with IANS, “According to the guidelines of the Election Commission, after the results of the assembly elections, a meeting of the legislature party is held, in which the leader of the party is elected. In this connection “Today, three resolutions were passed in the Shiv Sena (UBT) meeting. I was elected as the leader of the party group in the state assembly. Aditya Thackeray has been elected as the leader of the legislative party.”
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Ambadas Danve said, “A meeting was called today, in which Sunil Prabhu and Bhaskar Jadhav have been given big responsibility. State Assembly leader Bhaskar Jadhav has been elected, apart from the Chief Whip. The name of Sunil Prabhu has been agreed upon. Aditya Thackeray has been chosen as the leader of both the Houses.
He further said, “It has been taken in writing from the MLAs, there is nothing wrong in it that if the party takes it in writing then no one will leave the party this time. We all together will choose the leader of opposition. The numerical strength is less, but our alliance It was, we will meet the Governor and demand it.”
Actually, Aditya Thackeray has won from Worli Assembly seat for the second consecutive time. Aditya Thackeray got 63,324 votes, while Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena candidate Milind Deora got 54,523 votes. He defeated Milind Deora by 8,801 votes.
‘Mahayuti’ alliance has got a huge majority in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. BJP, which is part of the grand alliance, has won 132 seats, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has won 57 seats and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has won 41 seats.
At the same time, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), included in Maha Vikas Aghadi, has won maximum 20 seats. Congress has won 16 seats and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) has won 10 seats. Samajwadi Party has won two seats while others have won 10 seats.
