Jaisalmer : Rajasthan prominently highlighted the issue of tarnishing the image of the Golden City due to open urinals being built on the walls of Sonar Durg of Jaisalmer at Ground Zero. After this ground report the district administration has taken action. It was revealed through the report that the city council has made open urinals on the walls from the main gate of the world famous Sonar Fort to the walls around the ramparts. When the matter of insulting the World Heritage Site by urinating on it came to its notice through NDTV Rajasthan, the Municipal Council took action on the instructions of the District Collector. The city council has made alternative arrangements by demolishing these open urinals.
Removed the bathroom near the fort
Told Municipal Council Commissioner Lajpal Singh that now smart toilets are being built. The bathroom near the fort has been removed. Modern structures have been installed there for convenience. The gate of this smart toilet will open by inserting a coin. These modern bathrooms will be put into use soon.
Tourism businessman Ravindra Shripat expressed his gratitude to the Rajasthan team and said that after raising the issue of the problem that has been going on for years, now there is relief. Removing these open urinals which tarnish the image of the Golden City will no longer tarnish the image of our city. Till now, due to this chaos, there was a lot of trouble for the tourists also.
Sonar is the only living fort situated in the middle of Thar
Jaisalmer, situated in the middle of the Thar Desert, whose identity is Sonar Durg, is the only living fort in the world. The Archaeological Department has spent billions of rupees for the conservation of this fort, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage. On the other hand, open disorganized urinals have been built on its boundary walls, which along with weakening the wall of Sonar Fort, are tarnishing the image of Jaisalmer. Due to the dual policy of government departments towards Sonar Durg, it was being exploited. The condition of the walls of Sonar Fort is such that the wall of the fort is being used as the wall of the bathroom. Many rules and regulations have been made by the Indian Archeology and Survey Department for its conservation, but these rules have not been implemented.
