Administration should take action against violence: AIMPLB

Bengaluru, November 25 (IANS). Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, spokesperson of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), had a special conversation with IANS on Monday regarding the ‘Uniform Civil Code’ (UCC) and the violence that broke out during the survey of the mosque in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.

Regarding ‘Uniform Civil Code’ (UCC), AIMPLB spokesperson Ilyas said that there is a lot of diversity of culture and religions in our country, it is impossible to implement it here. The government should not do unnecessary exercises regarding UCC. If a man feels that he should not marry as per religious norms, then he should not marry.

He further said that I believe that the Uniform Civil Code has been brought by the government to tease the Muslims. But this time we will explain to them that this is not just an issue of Muslims, but is related to Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, tribes and Dalits.

On Sambhal violence in Uttar Pradesh, AIMPLB spokesperson said that this violence could have been avoided 100 percent. The police version is that people pelted stones for two to three seconds. On this they lathicharged and opened fire. This mentality has developed in the police that if the crowd coming in front indulges in violence for even a second, we will open fire on them. This trend should stop. I believe that action should be taken against the administration and the person who shot. At the same time, compensation should be given to the families of those who died.
