Ravi Kishan said about ‘Ban Maska Chai’, “This is a short film which is close to my heart. After working on ‘Lapta Ladies’, I wanted a project that was unique and I was blessed with a wonderful script in the form of ‘Bun Maska Chai’.”
About the other stars of the film, he said, “Rakshit’s performance astounded me. Director Anand Iyer’s style of storytelling is common and down to earth. The entire team was passionate about the story, people who were seen in ‘Missing Ladies’ They liked my work in ‘Bun Maska Chai’ too.”
Regarding his role in the film, the versatile actor said, “I am playing a different kind of role in the short film. In ‘Missing Ladies’ I played the role of a police officer, but in ‘Ban Maska Chai’ I played a professional shooter. I have always believed in doing something that I have learned in my 33 years of career. I prefer to work with spontaneity.”
A script like ‘Ban Maska Chai’ requires a lot of spontaneity to keep the audience engaged. In such a situation, it is important to avoid overacting. The acting in the film should be such that the audience gets connected with the film. This has been my goal. I’m sure fans will appreciate it. Anand Iyer has directed this project brilliantly.”
During the conversation, when the actor was asked that he has often worked in big budget films. What attracted you to a small budget project like ‘Ban Maska Chai’, he said, “What attracted me towards this film was Anand Iyer’s script and Rakshit’s acting. I saw a glow in Rakshit. I believe in supporting new talent because the industry needs new faces and strong artistes. Budget doesn’t matter to me. Team passion matters. Anand and Rakshit’s enthusiasm encouraged me to work on this project.”
The actor also talked about balancing acting and politics and said, “It is a dual responsibility that I have adopted. In politics, I am MP from Gorakhpur and acting is my profession. Prime Minister Modi’s teachings also guided me to balance these two roles effectively.”
Regarding Bhojpuri film industry, Kishan said, “I have given more than 450 films to Bhojpuri industry. Now, the younger generation has to take the reins. I hope they focus on finding talented directors and strong writers.”
