Lucknow, December 2 (IANS). After Samajwadi Party, now Congress has also announced to be careful. Police has been deployed outside the Congress office in Lucknow. The Congress Party delegation is preparing to go to Sambhal to meet the families of those killed. On the other hand, police reached outside the Congress office in large numbers. The routes leading to the office have been blocked. This convoy is said to leave at 12 o’clock.
Congress state president Ajay Rai said that the police has issued a notice to me. It is said that my visit will lead to chaos. Certainly we also want peace, not chaos. I want my leadership to know about the atrocities and injustice done by the police and the government there.
He said that all the party workers decided that we will stay at one place in our party office. Here talks were held with the workers and further strategy was decided. We will try to go there (carefully). We all will fight and get justice.
Opposition leader of Congress in the Assembly Aradhana Mishra said that a big incident has happened in Sambhal. There five people died due to gunshots and 30 policemen were injured. This is not a normal incident. It is quite a big incident. A Congress delegation wants to go under the leadership of Congress President Ajay Rai. We wanted to go there to find out the true facts. Wanted to appeal for peace there. I was put under house arrest since last night. Apart from the state president, other leaders are also being stopped. There is anarchy in the government. He wants to hide his failure. 163 is applicable in Sambhal, not in Lucknow. We are not being allowed to leave the house. This is hooliganism of the government.
Meanwhile, the police has issued a notice to Congress state president Ajay Rai asking him not to visit violence-hit Sambhal. In the notice given to Ajay Rai, he has been told that keeping in mind the peace and communal sensitivity in Sambhal district, he should cooperate in public interest and postpone his proposed program. So that the order of Section 163 BNSS passed by the District Magistrate of Sambhal district is not violated.
In fact, the administration has banned people from coming to Sambhal till 10th December. Recently many SP leaders had tried to go there. The SP legislature party leader and state president were stopped from going there. Some other MPs including Iqra Hasan were also not allowed there.
It may be noted that the judicial commission formed to investigate the violence that took place on November 24 during the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid has started investigating the matter. Two members of the three-member commission reached Sambhal on Sunday and visited the violence affected areas and took information from the officers. The Commission team also visited Jama Masjid and met the members of the Masjid Committee. Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh said that evidence was being collected against those responsible for the violence.
