After the rains, now there is fear of dengue and chikungunya, cases increased here in Rajasthan

Bundi : Chikungunya and dengue cases are increasing rapidly in two major areas of Bundi city of Rajasthan. So far, about 25 people have been found sick in 15 houses. Symptoms of Chikungunya have been found in elderly people, women, small children, youth in these areas. After the viral outbreak, the health department and administration of Bundi are on alert mode. On the instructions of the District Collector, the medical department did blood sampling of people in Jawahar Nagar Colony. The health department team, which arrived late, also had to face opposition from the people. The team has found larvae in water tanks at many places.

A local resident Sonu told that he had fever a week ago. After this he went to the hospital where the doctor prescribed treatment after examination. But the test for Chikungunya was not done in the hospital. Instead of improvement, pain started in the hands, legs and joints in many parts of the body and swelling was increasing. The condition of many other patients is similar. Patients of joint pain are also reaching the district hospital for treatment, but due to lack of test kits there, the test for Chikungunya is not being done.

Councillor accuses of laxity, warns of protest

Tikam Jain, a regional councillor in Bundi Nagar Parishad, alleged that there is a suspicion of a dreaded disease like Chikungunya spreading in the area, but the district administration and the medical department are not paying any attention. He said that after failing to contact the collector and the commissioner, he spoke to the ADM. After this, the medical department has sent a team for sampling. The councillor said that the Chikungunya test is not included in the state government’s free testing scheme. In such a situation, people have to go to private labs for testing. He warned that if the administration does not take it seriously, then people will have to take to the streets.

Opposition to health teams

Meanwhile, when Deputy CMHO Dr Kamlesh Sharma and the medical team from Rajatgrih Colony CHC reached these areas, they had to face opposition from the people. Angry locals alleged that an epidemic has been spreading in the area for the last 15 days, and now this inspection is being done just for the sake of formality. They demanded that the team should go to every house and test for Chikungunya.

Appeal to take precautions to avoid Chikungunya

After getting information about symptoms like Chikungunya disease, CMHO Dr. OP Samar visited Jawahar Nagar. He appealed to the people to be cautious. Deputy CMHO Kamlesh Sharma said that 10 medical teams are conducting door-to-door survey. Team members found mosquito larvae in tanks outside many houses. After this, these tanks are being emptied and cleaned. He said that the patients are also being tested for Chikungunya.
