After the stones falling on the wall of Jaisalmer Sonar Fort, traffic was started by laying stones

Jaisalmer : The road which was closed on Tuesday after huge stones fell from the previously damaged wall of Shiv Marg area of the historic Sonar Fort of Jaisalmer, has been opened for the movement of pedestrians and two-wheeler drivers. The police have once again narrowed the road here by placing boards, due to which three-wheelers and four-wheelers now have to go through the Ring Road to go towards Gopa Chowk. On Wednesday, shops and other business establishments in this area opened as normal.

However, it cannot be ruled out that the narrowing of the road will affect their business. It is noteworthy that on Tuesday afternoon, four stone blocks of the wall adjacent to the tower of the fort belonging to Shiv Marg fell on the road with a crash. The fortunate thing is that no human being or livestock came under the influence of these stones. On August 6, during the rainy season, a part of the wall adjacent to the turret of this part of Sonar Durg in Shiv Marg area had collapsed. Since then, leave aside the reconstruction of this wall, the work of even removing the stones which have reached a dangerous condition has not been done. Only the Archeology and Survey Department of the Central Government can get the construction and repair work related to Sonar Fort done and it has not been able to take positive steps in the matter which is more than three and a half months old.

Due to the damage to the ramparts of Sonar Fort, the people living and doing business nearby are scared of the incidents of sudden falling of big stones. Similarly, people traveling through this major route also suffer from the fear of the unknown. Even on Wednesday, many people came to this area to see the situation after the stones falling the day before. Due to the installation of planks, the traffic route has become quite narrow. However, there is some relief at present due to ban on movement of four-wheelers and three-wheelers.
