Ahmedabad, November 24 (IANS). The process of arresting fake officers continues in Gujarat. Now Ahmedabad Police has arrested a person posing as a fake IAS. The accused has been identified as Mehul Shah.
Shah is accused of preparing a fake letter pad for personal gain and presenting himself as an IAS officer. After receiving the complaint, Ahmedabad Crime Branch took immediate action and arrested him. Earlier, fake PMO officers and fake police officers have also been arrested in Gujarat.
According to Ahmedabad Crime Branch Police Inspector JK Makwana, the person who rented the car had lodged a complaint, after which the police started investigating the case. Accused Mehul Shah contacted the complainant to rent a car. Shah used to call himself the director of the revenue department and an IAS officer. The accused also presented a fake letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Science and Research Department for installing siren and curtain in the car.
The Police Inspector further said that further investigation in the matter is going on. Accused Mehul Shah is originally a resident of Morbi.
According to media reports, Ahmedabad Crime Branch has received papers in the names of many government departments from the accused. Apart from the phone of the accused, the police have seized many things. Police are examining other phones, laptops and gadgets of the accused.
According to the information, the accused youth used to extort lakhs of rupees from people by promising them jobs. Police is finding out how many people he has duped by posing as a fake IAS officer.
According to Ahmedabad Crime Branch, the accused had declared himself the chairman of the Science and Research Development Department. A letter pad was made stating that he was the chairman of this department. Which has been seized by the Crime Branch.
