Ajmer : Ajmer Dargah police station has succeeded in arresting 5 operatives of pickpocket gang operating in Dargah area on Sunday. Police recovered 22 mobile phones of branded companies from the accused. Whose value was estimated at Rs 6 lakh. The police is intensively investigating other incidents related to the gang. Police station in-charge Narendra Singh Jakhar said that in view of the upcoming Urs, in the special operation being conducted against the pickpocketing gang operating in the Dargah area, on Sunday, a special team raided the area from Anderkot New Road in Ratlam Javra of Madhya Pradesh. Shahrukh Meo (24), resident of Mewatipura Hall Longia Naval Nagar, Maharashtra Mumbai Gauvandi Bainganwadi Hall Fazal Abbas alias Bada Ganja, resident of Nalabazar, Moharram Ali (21), resident of Lakhan Kotri Silawat Mohalla, Mohammad Faizan (21), resident of B.K. Kaul Nagar Hall, Anderkot Kela Stepwell, and Farhan Alam (22), resident of Lakhan Kotri, were arrested. On tracking the accused, the police recovered 22 stolen mobile phones from them. The police registered theft cases against the accused and started investigation.
CCTV monitoring of hotel-restaurant
Jakhar told that the police team, while monitoring the suspects and challaned criminals stealing pickpockets, mobile phones, cash through the CCTV cameras installed at hotels and restaurants in the Dargah area, arrested Shahrukh Meo, Faizal Abbas alias Shahrukh Meo, Faizal Abbas alias on Anderkot New Road during patrolling on 23 November. Bada Ganja, Moharram Ali, Mohammad Faizan, Farhan Alam were detained and searched and stolen mobiles were seized. Phones recovered. The accused confessed to stealing the mobile phone from Zareen.

Police investigation revealed that while roaming in groups in the crowd, gangs steal mobile phones and valuables from pilgrims’ pockets and pass them on to each other. Later they divide the money and stolen goods. Investigation revealed that more than 10 cases were registered against Shahrukh for pickpocketing, 2 for theft, 2 for gambling and theft against Moharram Ali, and more than 10 cases against Farhan Alam for gambling and Arts Act, theft and assault.
