Ajmer Prof. Sodhani gets additional charge of MDS University Vice Chancellor

Ajmer : Prof. on the post of Vice Chancellor of Ajmer Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University. The tenure of Anil Kumar Shukla was completed on Tuesday and with this, the additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor was given to Prof. in his place under the ‘improvisational arrangement’. Kailash has been given to Sodhani. Sodhani is currently the Vice Chancellor of Vardhman Mahavir Open University, Kota. Orders for the acting Vice Chancellor were issued from Raj Bhavan on Tuesday night. In the order issued by Governor Haribhau Bagde, it has been mentioned that under the MDS University Act, regular appointment to the post of Vice Chancellor is likely to take time. Therefore, the Governor appointed the Vice Chancellor of Vardhaman Mahavir Open University, Kota, Prof. Instructions have been issued to give additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor to Kailash Sodhani under ‘makeshift arrangement’ till further orders or appointment of a regular Vice Chancellor.

Vice Chancellor Sodhani had been here before too

Pro. Sodhani has been the Vice Chancellor of MDSU for three years from 19 July 2014 to 18 July 2017. He has also held the additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor once in the past. He is well aware of the functioning of MDS University, its teachers, officers and employees. Therefore, it will be easier for them to handle the work here.

Formation of search committee incomplete

The search committee in MDSU has also not been fully formed yet. In the meeting of the Board of Management held on 4th October, former Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University, Jaipur resident Prof. JP Singhal’s name was nominated for the selection committee. This name was sent to Raj Bhavan. The state government has also finalized a name and sent it to Raj Bhavan. Now after finalizing one name each from Raj Bhavan and UGC, a search committee will be formed. After this, applications will be invited by issuing advertisement for the post of Vice Chancellor.
