Alert issued regarding Chandipura virus in Rajasthan, know the advisory of the medical department

Jaipur : Chandipura Virus is spreading rapidly in many states of the country including Rajasthan. It is said that the maximum number of Chandipura virus cases have been reported in Gujarat. Its effect is also increasing rapidly in Rajasthan adjacent to Gujarat. Recently 6 cases were confirmed in Rajasthan. At the same time, 2 people have also died due to the effect of the virus. After this, a positive case has come to light in Dungarpur district, due to which the Rajasthan Health Department is getting worried. Now 2 deaths have occurred due to this virus.

After a case was reported in Dungarpur, the Medical and Health Department has now issued a detailed advisory to ensure caution and necessary management regarding this disease across the state. Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar had instructed to take necessary steps to prevent this disease after a patient of Chandipura virus was reported in the state. After this, the department has instructed the principals of all medical colleges of the state, Chief Medical and Health Officers and Chief Medical Officers to ensure necessary action as per the advisory.

Special vigilance in border districts of Gujarat

Additional Chief Secretary of Medical and Health Department Shubhra Singh said that after a patient was found in Dungarpur district, arrangements have been made for prevention and treatment of this disease across the state. Also, instructions have been given to exercise special caution in the border districts of Gujarat state. Shubhra Singh said that in the detailed advisory issued by the department, information has been given regarding the symptoms, investigation, treatment, prevention and vector control of the disease and instructions have been given to ensure management as per the advisory. Earlier also, instructions were given to exercise caution when cases of this disease were found in Gujarat.

Refer the patient suffering from acute encephalitis syndrome

Director Public Health Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur said that as per the advisory, instructions have been given to refer a patient suffering from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome to the nearest district hospital or medical college with immediate effect. He said that ASHA, ANM and CHO have been asked to be oriented regarding this disease, house-to-house survey should be conducted in case of a suspected case, and prevention and control activities have been asked to be conducted in the houses around the suspected or positive patient.

Suspected patient’s sample sent to Pune lab

Dr. Mathur said that if any suspected patient is found during the survey, then instructions have been given to collect samples through the microbiology team of the nearest medical college and send them to the lab in Pune. In case of a positive case, samples of people who came in contact with the patient should also be collected and sent to Pune. In case of a positive case, samples of pet animals will be collected through the animal husbandry department and sent to the concerned lab.

Report suspicious cases immediately

In case of any suspicious case, all medical institutions will have to inform the Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district and the Directorate of Medical and Health with immediate effect. Along with this, daily reporting of cases of this disease will also have to be done on the IHIP portal. Instructions have also been given to conduct necessary IEEC activities to create awareness about the disease.
