All-rounder Bo Webster included in Australian Test squad amid Marsh’s injury concerns

Canberra, November 28 (IANS). Australia have included Tasmanian all-rounder Bo Webster in Australia’s Test squad amid injury concerns over Mitchell Marsh.

Webster bowls medium pace as well as off spin when required. He recently impressed while playing for Australia A in the series against India A.

Apart from this, he also took five wickets along with scoring 61 and 49 against New South Wales in the recent Sheffield Shield match. He is also one of Australia’s best slip fielders.

He remained unbeaten twice in four innings of the two four-day matches against India A, scoring 145 runs and taking seven wickets at an average of 19.57.

Talking about the first-class matches of the last two years, his batting average was 53.23 and bowling average was 31.71.

Earlier, Australia’s head coach and selector Andrew McDonald, while announcing the team for the Adelaide Test without any changes, had also informed that there is some doubt over the fitness of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. Australian captain Pat Cummins had also expressed concern about Marsh’s fitness.

Although there is an additional batsman in Josh Inglis in the 13-man squad, Webster became a contender for Test debut due to his all-round abilities.

The second Test will start in Adelaide from 6 December. By winning the Perth Test, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.

Australian team for Adelaide Test: Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Nathan McSweeney, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Bo webster
