Alwar : Singer Amit Mishra, who came to perform in the musical night during Alwar Matsya Utsav, spread the magic of his voice. Mishra has had to work hard to reach this position. He took classical music lessons. After this, his initial songs were not a hit, but he did not lose courage and reached this point today. He said that ever since he received the invitation for Matsya Utsav, he was eager to come to Alwar. The audience here was very nice.
Q How did you start music? A I was fond of singing since childhood. Music was an optional subject in school, he studied classical music formally. Took special training in singing techniques, voice projection, design and breathing techniques etc. in Mumbai. The first playback opportunity came from the 1920 film Evil Returns directed by Vikram Bhatt. I believe that you don’t choose music, it chooses you.
Q You did not get success in the beginning, did you become nervous also? A I was getting songs in the beginning, but none became hits so I started getting nervous. Then my father said that you have given five years to music. Now I give you five more years. After this, my father remained with me at every step, it was only with his support that I was able to move forward.
Q How are new experiments done in music? A Just as medicine and lawyer are professions, in the same way music is also a profession, a study. A lot of preparation has to be done for this also. Like every profession, there are uncertainties in music. There are many ups and downs in the journey of music. Leave the negative things and focus on the positive.
Q What is the message to the youth coming into the field of music? A Music is music in whatever language it is. That’s why I play all types of songs, Punjabi, Rajasthani, filmy, religious. Music should be such that it settles in the hearts of the people, only then it can move forward. If the quality of music is good, then people are forced to listen to it. I have been learning for many years, if there is any deficiency then I also correct it. Now many platforms have come in music, if you find a good guru then you can make a career.
