Alwar : Alwar It is about to complete one year since the budget announcement of the state government, but the government’s announcements have not yet materialized. According to the budget announcement, development work was to be done in about 10 other museums including Alwar Museum of the state, but till now neither tenders have been issued nor work has started in the museums.
The floor is getting damaged, there is no light in the showcase: It is noteworthy that the museum of Alwar is very old. According to the number of objects displayed, it is the second largest museum of Rajasthan. Every year lakhs of tourists come here. Work was done in the museum about seven-eight years ago at a cost of crores, but even after this there is a need for work. The museum is built at a very high altitude and the elderly and disabled are not able to reach here. This requires a lift. Till date tourists have not been able to get the facility of AC here. The floor of the first room of the museum has started deteriorating. There are many showcases which do not have lights, due to which it is difficult to see the historical items displayed in them properly. Many of the items displayed here do not have descriptions or tags.
Alwar Museum is built on the fifth floor of the City Palace. It has a collection of about 16 thousand historical items which include clothes of kings and emperors, ivory items, musical instruments, hunted birds and animals, pottery, rare paintings, weapons and handwritten texts including Sanskrit manuscripts, Persian manuscripts. Apart from Hindi and Urdu manuscripts, there is a collection of excavated statues etc. Apart from this, autobiographies of Babar and Akbar etc. are included.
