Alwar district tops in adulteration, maximum challans were issued from here

Alwar : Alwar Alwar ranks first in the state in terms of adulteration in food items. Although continuous action is being taken by the Health Department to prevent adulterated food items, but in order to earn more profit at lower cost, adulterators are not desisting from playing with the health of the common people. According to the information, in November across the state Challans were presented against 527 adulterators. Of these, maximum 65 cases were registered in Alwar. In this, cases of fake ghee and cheese are highest. This is the situation when the department has taken several major actions in the last one year and has destroyed large quantities of adulterated food items. Even after this, there is no fear of law among the adulterators.

249 samples failed in ten months: The Health Department team took a total of 816 samples of food items from Alwar, Khairthal-Tijara district and Bansur area in the 10 months from January to October this year, out of which 249 samples failed in testing. At the same time, 523 samples were taken in 7 months till July this year, out of which 148 samples were found adulterated. Out of these, 141 food samples were found sub-standard and 7 samples were found unsafe. This includes 49 samples of paneer, 36 of ghee, 10 of kalakand, 12 of curd and 8 samples of red chilli.

Food Safety Officer Keshav Goyal said that continuous actions are being taken by the department to prevent adulterated food items. The general public can also give complaints related to this to the department by calling toll free number 181 or office number 0144-2340145. Till October this year, while disposing of 237 cases of adulterated food items, Alwar City and Khairthal ADM Court has imposed a penalty of Rs 56 lakh on the adulterators. A fine of Rs 59 thousand 500 has been imposed. This also includes last year’s episodes. During this period, the Health Department has presented challan in the court in 180 cases.
