Alwar : Alwar Bringing innovation in nursing education, the Indian Nursing Council (INC) has released the draft of a new two-year promotional bridge course from ANM to GNM. Suggestions regarding this have been invited from the general public and various organizations. It is being told that a large number of nursing students will benefit from the start of this two-year bridge course. Council President T. Dilip Kumar said that students who have done two-year diploma course of ANM will be able to complete the GNM course in two years instead of three by taking direct admission in this bridge course.
Health services will improve
The main objective of this new promotional bridge course in Nursing is to train nursing candidates according to the changing needs of the health service delivery system and society. Along with this, the knowledge and ability related to nursing and pregnancy has to be further improved for better care of the patient along with discipline. So that GNMs can be prepared to take up responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives.
Till now, admission into the three-year course of GNM is given on the basis of merit of marks obtained in Senior Secondary. Whereas serving ANM has to complete GNM course in 3 years after 5 years of service experience. According to experts, all the nursing subjects were not being completed in the 2-year diploma course of ANM. In view of this, INC has taken a new initiative and released the draft of a two-year promotional bridge course. So that multidisciplinary trained manpower can be made available in hospitals.
