Alwar: Enraged husband burns wife after she refuses to give him money, condition critical

Alwar : In Mankot village of Thanagazi in Alwar, a 20-year-old woman was burnt by her husband after he threw a burning matchstick on her saree. She suffered 40 percent burns due to which. The woman’s 3-month-old son also suffered slight burns. But she saved him by throwing him on the cot. The reason for setting the fire was found to be that the woman’s husband had recharged his father-in-law’s mobile. He asked for the money from his wife. When she did not give it, in anger he threw three-four matchsticks on his wife’s saree. Currently, the mother and son are admitted in the district hospital. The wife has accused the husband of beating her and bringing a motorcycle and money from her parents’ house.

The woman Kali Devi told that her parental home is in Madhogarh. She was married to Mahendra Bhalai, a resident of Thanagaji Mankot, on 4 November 2023. A few days after the marriage, her husband Mahendra started demanding a motorcycle and money from her as dowry. He started beating her over trivial matters. The woman accused her husband of taunting her that he had bought her. Motorcycle and money were given in your brother’s wedding, you should also bring it. The woman told that she was married in Aata-Sata. Her in-laws are in Mankot. Kali’s brother Nandram was married in Kalapura in Pratapgarh. Nandram’s brother-in-law is Kali’s Nandu. Mahendra’s sister is married in Kalapura. The woman Kali’s brother’s in-laws are there. In this way, the marriage took place in Aata-Sata.

31 August fire incident

The woman told that the incident happened on 31st August. She was sitting on the cot with her 3 month old son. Just then her husband Mahendra came. He started beating me. In a few minutes he took out three or four sticks of the machine and lit them and threw them on me. The sari caught fire very fast. I threw my 3 month old son on the cot far away. Due to which he was saved. However, he also got blisters on one or two places on his body. She herself got 40 percent burnt. Her brother-in-law Sonu came to save her.

Kali’s father and husband are laborers

The woman said that her father Lichharam is a labourer. Kali’s husband works as a farm labourer. Family members said that Kali’s husband had recharged her father-in-law’s mobile a few days ago. Mahendra came home and quarrelled with his wife. Then he asked for money from his wife. He said that you give me the money for recharging your father’s mobile. There was a quarrel over this. Then he set her on fire.
