Alwar hinders revenue collection, more than 50 percent target still incomplete

Alwar : Alwar As the last month of the year begins, government pressure has started on all the departments regarding revenue collection. The Excise Department is also controlled by senior officers. In Alwar, 50 percent revenue target has not been achieved yet, hence there is doubt about full recovery in the remaining time. On behalf of the state government, Alwar District Excise Department has set a target of revenue collection of Rs 466 crore in the financial year 2024-25. Has been done, which is to be completed by 31 March 2025. So far the Excise Department has been able to collect revenue of Rs 221 crore. The department is claiming that the recovery process had been expedited since the month of November and Rs 33 lakh was recovered in this month. The process of revenue collection is going on at a fast pace in December, but the Excise Department still has to recover revenue of Rs 245 crore in about three and a half months. Seeing this, the officers of the Excise Department are sweating.

After formation of new districts the target remained half

In the old Alwar district, there were 293 country-English liquor shops authorized by the Excise Department and about two dozen liquor factories. During that time, the state government had given a revenue collection target of about one thousand crore rupees to the Alwar District Excise Department. In August-2023, Alwar was divided into new districts like Khairthal-Tijara and Kotputli-Behror. After this, the number of country-English liquor shops in Alwar district has reduced to 245 and the number of liquor factories has also reduced to less than half. Due to which the revenue target was reduced to Rs 466 crore.
