Alwar problems due to moisture, exporters give up due to fungus in onion

Alwar News Desk: Despite good demand for onions from Alwar district abroad, the goods are not able to go out for about 3-4 days. The reason for this is said to be the high moisture content in onion. According to the information, more wet onion is coming in the market these days. At the same time, it takes about 10 days to send goods to Bangladesh by trucks. In such a situation, onion is sprouting due to excess moisture. Besides, there is also the problem of fungus. Due to this, exporters have refused to accept the goods. At present, about 50 to 60 trucks of goods are going from Alwar Mandi to different states of the country every day.

Increase of Rs 3 due to less goods: On November 5, the wholesale price of onion in Alwar Mandi was Rs 37 to 50 per kg. Which was Rs 25 to 45 per kg on November 11 and Rs 25 to Rs 43 per kg on November 12. Since then, a decline in onion prices was visible. On November 19, the wholesale price of onion came down to Rs 25 to Rs 35 per kg. At the same time, on Wednesday, wholesale onion prices increased by Rs 3 to Rs 25 to Rs 38 per kg. It is being told that the arrival of onion on Wednesday was around 65 to 70 thousand bags, due to some decrease in the arrival the prices have increased.

The arrival of onion started in Alwar Mandi from the first week of November. Which is likely to continue till November 15. At the same time, onions are being sent from the market to various states of the country including Bihar, Bengal, Assam, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttaranchal and Jharkhand. There is a risk of onion getting spoiled due to moisture in it. In such a situation, farmers should not hurry and dry their goods and bring them for sale. Due to this, onion prices will also get better.
