According to doctors, the twins are suffering from Harlequin-type ichthyosis, an extremely rare disease. This is a genetic disorder in which the skin of children does not develop properly. Due to this disease, babies are born with abnormal skin structure, which is hard and cracked. Along with this, the eyes of these children are underdeveloped, and they also face problems in physical development.
The survival of such children is a miracle.
Doctors at PBM Hospital in Bikaner say that it can be very difficult for children to survive due to this disease, because this type of newborns can survive only for a few days. The doctor said that the mortality rate of these children can be up to 50% and they require prompt and specialist treatment.

This disease is usually caused by a parental chromosomal disorder, in which both parents have an abnormality in their chromosomes. In this condition, a hard layer forms on the skin of children, which starts bursting over time, causing intense pain and increasing the risk of infection. If the infection progresses, the children’s chances of survival become even less.

Doctors say that there is difficulty in treating this disease, but in some cases children can get some relief after treatment. However, they have to face skin related problems throughout their life. These children may have a lot of difficulties in living a normal life.
