New Delhi, November 17 (IANS). America’s famous Johns Hopkins University can establish its campus in India. On Sunday, a delegation from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, Maryland met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Johns Hopkins University President Ronald J. This high-level delegation to India led by Daniel also included officials from JHU’s internal unit, Gupta Klinsky India Institute (GKII).
The objective of this meeting is to connect the JHU community with Indian partners through research, education, policy and practice. In this important meeting, Higher Education Secretary K. Sanjay Murthy, senior officials of the Ministry of Education and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs attended.
In this meeting with the American University, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the transformative opportunities brought by the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020).
He said that this has paved the way for the progress of the education sector in India. The Education Minister praised the University for building strong partnerships with Indian higher education institutions, contributing to the global exchange of knowledge.
The Education Minister particularly appreciated the dual and joint degree programmes, two-way seamless mobility of students and teachers, research partnerships in emerging areas such as data science, Artificial Intelligence and future technologies.
He emphasized that this collaboration will enhance the potential to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the students of both the countries. The discussion also focused on strengthening academic and research collaboration between JHU and leading Indian institutions of higher education.
According to the Union Education Ministry, the delegation actively discussed setting up a Johns Hopkins University campus in India. The ministry says the visit of Daniel and his team highlights the importance of India-US educational cooperation. This delegation of American universities will visit various Indian university campuses.
The delegation will also interact with key government officials, academicians and consular representatives in efforts to strengthen JHU’s activities in India. Prominent faculty members of Indian origin from JHU such as Mathuram Santosh, Professor of Pediatrics and International Health and Chirag Parikh, Professor of Medicine and Director of Nephrology Division, also participated. The delegation also included GKII officials and its advisory board members Raj and Kamla Gupta, Deepak Raj, Kunal Pal and Nitisha Besra.
