Varanasi, 26 November (IANS). On completion of 75 years of the country’s Constitution, a special program was organized in the Central Hall of the Old Parliament on Tuesday. President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were present on this occasion. The theme of the program was kept as “Our Constitution, Our Self-Respect”.
A special coin and postage stamp were issued to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution. Along with this, copies of the Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili languages were also presented. Two important books, ‘Making of the Indian Constitution: A Glimpse’ and ‘Making of the Indian Constitution and its glorious journey’ were also released at the event.
There is an atmosphere of great joy in Banaras Hindu University when the Sanskrit and Maithili copies of the Constitution were presented in the Parliament.
Shyamanand Mishra, working as a professor in the literature department of Kashi Hindu University, described this step of the Indian government as incomparable. He said in Maithili language, “Today the Prime Minister released the Constitution regarding Sanskrit and Mithila, which is a matter of pride for the people of Mithila. We all express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Prime Minister that he accepted the pride of our language and culture.”
Vivek Tripathi, student of Sanskrit department, also welcomed this decision of the Government of India. Speaking in Sanskrit, he said, “I am proud to mark the release of the Sanskrit and Maithili versions of the Constitution by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this occasion. It is a matter of pride that Sanskrit is being promoted in this way. If we look at the nature of ancient times, we understand that the reconstruction and propagation of Sanskrit has become more important now. This step by Prime Minister Modi has a historical significance. This is an important effort for the re-establishment and promotion of Sanskrit language. We Sanskrit students are very happy with this decision. We want the respect of our language to increase and the future of Sanskrit to be bright. This step is an inspiration for us, and we are all motivated to move forward in this direction. It is hoped that this effort will create more opportunities for Sanskrit students.”
Professor Vinay Pandey, Department of Sanskrit, said, “Today the Prime Minister released the Indian Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili language, which is a matter of pride for us. Certainly this step will increase the love and enthusiasm for Sanskrit among our youth. Knowledge of the Indian Constitution will now also be available in Sanskrit language, which will further strengthen our sense of respect for Indian culture and language. This step will further clarify the importance of the Constitution and will re-awaken the antiquity and power of Sanskrit.”
