Jaipur : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, which was revealed two days later on Friday. Through this letter, CM Sharma has requested to open the administrative borders of Rajasthan by December 31.
What did Bhajanlal Sharma write in the letter?
The CM wrote in the letter, ‘The central government has frozen the powers of the state to decide administrative units like districts, tehsils, towns and villages for the upcoming census on 01 July 2024. The state government wants to benefit the general public by issuing a notification regarding the creation of new revenue villages, subdivisions, tehsils, sub-tehsil offices etc. in the state and changes in the jurisdiction of districts etc. Therefore, please grant permission to extend the deadline for stabilization of administrative units like districts, tehsils, towns, panchayat samitis, gram panchayats, district councils and local bodies of Rajasthan state till 31 December 2024.’
Preparations underway to merge/abolish small districts!
It is clear from this letter that CM Bhajanlal Sharma can decide to change the jurisdiction of 17 new districts or abolish them and merge the smaller districts by December. In this regard, the CM had also formed a committee, whose chairmanship was entrusted to former IAS Lalit K. Panwar. This committee was ordered to prepare a report regarding the reorganization of new districts and submit it to the cabinet sub-committee within 15 days. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa had also said that it should be made clear that the purpose of formation of new districts should not be politically motivated but should be based on public interest.
After demarcation, elections are to be held in 19 districts
In Rajasthan, Panchayat and Zila Parishad elections will be held in Alwar, Banswara, Barmer, Chittorgarh, Churu, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jalore, Jhunjhunu, Pali, Sikar, Sirohi, and Tonk in November-December this year. After the demarcation process is completed, elections will be held in 19 districts. These include Balotra, Beawar, Anupgarh, Didwana Kuchaman, Deeg, Dudu, Gangapur City, Jaipur North, Jaipur South, Kotputli, Khairthal, Neem Ka Thana, Phalodi, Salumbhar, Sanchore, Jodhpur, Jodhpur Rural, Kekri and Shahpura.
Notification of 3 new districts stuck
Let us tell you that the previous Gehlot government of Rajasthan had announced the creation of 19 new districts just before the assembly elections, after which the total number of districts in Rajasthan increased from 33 to 50. But the notification of Sujangarh, Malpura and Kuchaman City districts has not been issued yet. After the assembly elections, the BJP government was formed in the state. Now there is a doubt in the bureaucracy whether the work of demarcation of all the new districts should be started or some districts should be left out? In this regard, after the code of conduct is lifted, the officers will also take guidance from the high level.
