Mumbai, November 22 (IANS). Many leaders of Aam Aadmi Party recently left the party and joined other parties. The latest case is of Kailash Gehlot. Gehlot joined BJP. Former AAP leader Anjali Damania has defended the party on this.
Speaking to IANS, Anjali Damania said, “The people who earlier joined the Aam Aadmi Party were very simple, whose aim was to bring change in the politics of the country. Although many people have left the party due to some reasons, most have not said anything negative about the party. There are some people who suddenly came and started talking against the party, like Kailash Gehlot. He recently said that the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ that was built was wrong and that is why he is leaving the party. Surprisingly it took him two-three years to understand this. Such people are often opportunists.”
He said, “Some people leave the party because of their differences, which is a different thing. Some people leave the party for their own benefit. In the last few days, Arvind Kejriwal has had to face allegations of corruption. Today, every person in the entire country Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said about the irrigation scam in Maharashtra on June 30, but three days later, the kingpin of the same scam, Ajit Pawar and his party join the government. People like Chhagan Bhujbal also join BJP. I am not saying that it was a conspiracy, but it is wrong that ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) take action only against the opposition parties, while the ruling party The leaders get a clean chit.”
On the changes in the Aam Aadmi Party, Damania said, “I still believe that whatever Arvind Kejriwal did, he did it only to take his party and ideology forward, but some mistakes were also made in it, due to which many like us. People left the party.”
On the Muft Ki Revdi campaign, he said, “I am very surprised to hear the word ‘Free Ki Revdi’. When the same BJP brings schemes across the country in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, it seems that it is opportunistic politics.”
On Prakash Ambedkar’s statement of staying with power, he said, “My question about Prakash Ambedkar has always been that why does he do politics, is it for selfishness or for position? This method of politics should be stopped. The statement he has given about going with someone after winning the elections. This should not be the purpose of contesting elections.”
About Ajit Pawar, he said, “Ajit Pawar is a leader about whom nothing can be said. If 18 to 20 seats come, he will try to make himself a minister, whether it is a BJP government or someone else.”
